An Invitation to Prayer
The
prayer service on Tuesday evenings in the Chapel is always open to any member
of the congregation. We who participate
in this service have been truly blessed by praying with others in our church
family, and we want more people to know about it.
Our
time spent in prayer varies. We
begin at 6:30 p.m. and pray for anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes.
We come as we are. If you’re coming after work, dressed in work
clothes, that’s fine. If you’ve been
working in the garden (spring really is coming soon!) in old jeans, that’s fine
too!
We come as we are spiritually. Some of us pray out loud many times; some
pray out loud once during the prayer time; some may pray only silently and
never speak out loud. There are no expectations or requirements,
and God hears every prayer.
We don’t have to be there every week. There’s prayer every week, but we come when
we can. Once a month? Every other week? Every once in a while?
Whenever you can come, those who are here will welcome you.
If you’re late, please join us quietly
anyway. If you have to leave quietly
before the last “amen,” please feel free to do so.
There’s
joy in prayer together, and there’s peace, comfort, and encouragement. And think what the Holy Spirit can do through
us, when we meet to seek God’s will for First Christian Church!
